HKCEC off to a busy start with 2,600 exhibitors

ASIA - The Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) is expecting more than 2,600 international exhibitors to participate in three trade fairs from 6 to 9 January.

The HKTDC Hong Kong Toys and Games Fair opens on 6 January with an estimated 1,960 exhibitors from 39 countries and regions expected to showcase their products, said show organiser Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC).

More than 39,500 visitors are expected at the show as it celebrates its 40th edition.

Fair highlights will include the new Smart-Tech Toys zone, showcasing innovative toys and games combining traditional design with smart devices and app functions suitable for kids, teenagers and adults. Indonesia will organise a group pavilion for the first time, alongside the Chinese mainland, Korea, Spain, Taiwan, Thailand and World of Toys.

The fifth edition of HKTDC Hong Kong Baby Products Fair will run concurrently, featuring a new fair record of 460 exhibitors from 29 countries and regions.

Highlights include the new Baby Food and Healthcare Products zone, along with Brand Name Gallery and World of Strollers and Gear.

Jointly organised by HKTDC and Messe Frankfurt, the 14th Hong Kong International Stationery Fair is expected to welcome 210 exhibitors including three group pavilions: Korea, Taiwan and Thailand. A new DIY Supplies zone will be launched, alongside Gift Stationery, Kids & School, Pen & Paper and Smart Office.

"A growing middle class, especially in such emerging markets as the Chinese mainland and India, is fuelling demand for toys, baby products and stationery," said HKTDC director, Exhibitions Market Development, Loretta Wan. “The market for these items may get a further boost from the mainland's recently announced relaxation of its one-child policy."

A series of industry events will be held at the fairs, including the Hong Kong Toys Industry Conference 2014 under the theme Global Challenges & Opportunities, a seminar on baby-care product trends and a symposium on stationery design and product packaging trends.
