Plans outlined for new Delhi venue

ASIA - Details have been released for a new convention centre project being proposed in Delhi.

The mixed-use development, offering 200,000sqm of exhibition space, would be located near to the Indira Ghandi International Airport and serve as an economic development anchor to the National Capital Region.

Titled the Exhibition and Convention Center – Dwarka (ECC-Dwarka), the new venue is being proposed by the Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor Development Corporation (DMICDC), a project being led by ‘Incredible India’ campaign architect Amitabh Kant.

Ravinder Sethi (pictured), CEO of RE Rogers India and one of the project’s key champions, said the new project is "made possible by the infrastructure development that accompanies the Delhi Mumbai corridor project".

It is envisioned to include a 60,000sqm convention centre, as well as a 20,000sqm live events arena, with 3,500 rooms onsite.

No investors have been named at this stage.
