Tarsus expects 5% visitor rise at Dubai Airshow 2013

MIDDLE EAST - Exhibition organiser Tarsus is anticipating this year’s Dubai Airshow to be the largest in the show’s 26-year history.

More than 1,000 exhibitors and 60,000 trade visitors are expected to attend the 13th edition of the show - up five per cent and seven per cent respectively from 2011. The 2011 edition broke records with a total of 56,548 visitors and 960 exhibitors from 50 countries.

The show, held every two years, will run at a purpose-built site at Dubai World Central on 17–21 November, moving from Dubai International Airport.

According to the organiser, the aviation growth of Dubai prompted the move and as a result the expanded exhibition space and footprint will now total 645,000sqm - more than double that at the old site.

“Exhibitors and visitors will immediately ‘feel’ the difference with the exhibition halls having more spacious aisles, an improved media centre with all press facilities being clustered in one area, a larger static park for more aircraft and more spaces for outdoor pavilions which can now remain onsite permanently  - a growing trend at airshows,” said Sharief Fahmy, CEO, F&E Aerospace, co-organiser of the Dubai Airshow.

There will be 150 aircrafts on display including 50 business jets at the Dubai Airshow, some appearing for the first time in the Middle East.

“The number of aircrafts booked is a testament to the strength of the show; consisting of both commercial and military,” said Fahmy.

The organiser said there will be shuttle service from two Metrostations - Ibn Battuta and Jebel Ali Metro Stations - in addition to a shuttle service from 17 official hotels.
