IFEMA rolls out free Wi-FI

EUROPE - Madrid venue and organiser IFEMA is now offering visitors free Wi-Fi across five areas at the venue, as part of its infrastructure expansion.

The new system was unveiled during the European League Against Rheumatism Congress (EULAR) in June, and is capable of handling 790 GB of traffic in high-density scenarios, allowing more than 6,000 users to connect to the internet simultaneously.

According to IFEMA, this represents a major step forward in the venue’s connectivity. The expansion included providing line coverage for the 112,500 metres of gross surface area occupied by the halls for EULAR. A total of 153 access points were used, increasing the available bandwidth for the service to 400 Mbps to meet the event's requirements.

The free Wi-Fi areas are situated in the north and south entrances, the Avenida Central meeting point, the Club Feria and Business Centre and the Press Club.

IFEMA expects the new Wi-Fi solution will make it easier to attract major international congresses to Madrid.
