Cashmere World attracts 2,000 buyers at second HKCEC show

ASIA - The organiser of Cashmere World has hailed this year’s trade show a success, following its relocation from Beijing to Hong Kong in 2012.

More than 2,000 buyers and 60 exhibitors attended the event on 25-27 September at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC), which co-located with Fashion Access, an exhibition dedicated to fashion.

According to the organisers, China Chamber of Commerce of Import and Export of Foodstuffs, Native Produce and Animal by-Products and UBM Asia, 95 per cent of the world’s supply of pure cashmere and 70 per cent of its finished products come from China, due to its access to natural resources and manufacturing capabilities.

“China is the indisputable country of choice to host Cashmere World, a global fair that promotes the productive and sustainable development of the cashmere industry,” said a spokesman from the organiser.

Highlights of the show included fashion presentations and demonstrations as well as industry seminars on raw materials to finished products, including yarns, fabrics, garments, machinery and processing chemicals and dyes.

Cashmere World will return to HKCEC on 25-27 September 2014.
