Messe Munich hails inaugural Bauma Africa a success

AFRICA - Messe Munich has reported its inaugural trade fair for construction machinery attracted 14,700 visitors from more than 110 countries.

The ‘biggest industry event for the sector in Africa’ was held on 18-21 September at the Gallagher Convention Centre in Johannesburg.

“This is huge for South Africa and the industry here,” said CEO of Messe Munich South Africa Elaine Crew. “With its premiere, Bauma Africa has immediately become the largest show for the construction machinery, building material machines and mining machines sector. The feedback we have received is just fantastic.”

A total of 754 exhibitors from 38 countries showcased their products and services, spanning 60,000sqm of exhibition space.

A conference programme and series of seminars featured throughout the event, focusing on global issues in concrete construction.

Messe Munich reported a record Bauma event in Munich, which attracted more than 530,000 visitors in April.
