Messe Frankfurt reveals divisional shake-up

WORLD - Messe Frankfurt has launched a new strategy and organisation division, to oversee further development of the group, which took effect on 1 October.

The new division will focus on business processes, 'to analyse and optimise the company’s operational and organisational structure'. This will first take place in Frankfurt, followed by a second stage, throughout the group worldwide, said Messe Frankfurt.

The division will be headed up by Klaus Reinke in his new role as chief of strategy and senior vice president of Messe Frankfurt. He will report directly to Wolfgang Marzin, president and chief executive officer.

Ruth Lorenz will take over the management of the New Events division from Reinke, where she will be responsible for the Webchance, M-Days, Email Expo and Voice+IP events as well as for event development. She will be reporting to Iris Jeglitza, member of the Extended Board of Management of Messe Frankfurt, which is responsible for the company’s portfolio of technical trade fairs.

According to Messe Frankfurt, a new department will be set up in the Digital Business division, led by Kai Hattendorf (pictured), in order to further strengthen the company’s digital business. This department will manage and further develop the company’s online activities and events centrally. In this position, Hattendorf will also report to Reinke.

“In line with our corporate concept, we are developing in three directions,” said Marzin. “We are growing through new group trade fairs and events worldwide. We are expanding our business by securing further guest events for our exhibition grounds in Frankfurt. And we are expanding our range of services – both analogue and digital – in Frankfurt and worldwide.

“All of this requires expert coordination of our activities in order to realise the potential inherent in an integrated international corporate group,” he said.

Messe Frankfurt has partnered with Hamburg Messe to co-organise regional purchasing events held at the venues in January and July every year.
