Reed Travel Exhibitions reveals visitor and exhibitor rise at CIBTM 2013

ASIA - Reed Travel Exhibitions has reported a substantial growth in both visitor and exhibitor numbers at its 2013 China Incentives, Business Travel and Meetings exhibition (CIBTM), held on 2-4 September.
 
Held at the China National Convention Centre (CNCC) in Beijing, the event attracted 17 per cent more exhibitors (465) and 14 per cent more trade visitors (3,692) compared to the previous year’s show.
These figures are subject to BPA audit.

The three-day show hosted 9,402 pre-scheduled business appointments, which is a 10 per cent increase on the 2012 show’s figures.
 
“We have been delighted with the level of business which was achieved this year and we have had a great deal of positive feedback so far from all of our attendees,” said CIBTM project manager Jeffrey Xu. “This feedback gives us a true indication of just how effective the Hosted Buyer programme is in generating business for buyers and suppliers from across the globe.”
 
Reed saw a two per cent growth (374 in 2013) in Hosted Buyer attendance at this year's show.
 
“The buyers’ quality has improved greatly,” said sales manager for the Ramada Beijing North, Kevin Shi. “CIBTM has allowed us to connect with clients from different countries and regions. Compared with other exhibitions in the industry, CIBTM’s buyers offer powerful purchasing power, making CIBTM an attractive exhibition to attend.”
 
New exhibitors and returning brands included Sri Lanka, Japan National Tourism Organization, Madrid, Czech Tourist Authority - Czech Tourism, Hungarian National Tourist Office, Saint Petersburg Express, JSC and Russian Federation. Reed also reported a four per cent in net exhibiting space growth for 2013.
 
This year’s Professional Education programme saw a 113 per cent increase in attendance over the 20 sessions, which were delivered as part of CIBTM Knowledge. There was an 18 per cent increase in the number sessions delivered over CIBTM 2012. The programme featured a number of diverse speakers through partnerships with industry associations including MPI, SITE, ASAE, ICCA and IAEE.
 
CIBTM 2014 will return to the CNCC, 17-19 September 2014.
