China International Boat Show set to make a splash

ASIA - The organiser of the sixth China International Boat Show is expecting its biggest outing to date, displaying more than 300 yachts and boats.
 
The boat show is scheduled to be held at the Xiamen Marina in Wuyuan Bay from 8 to 11 November.
 
More than 2,000 visitors attended the four-day event in 2012, where 200 boats were displayed. According to the organiser, 38 boats were sold, an 18 per cent increase compared to the previous year.
 
The event will continue to stage its water-land format, with more than 30,000sqm of onshore exhibition area, and 351 offshore berths with 20,000sqm of water show area.
 
This year, the show will include three sections including an indoor area exhibiting technical equipment and yacht clubs. An outdoor area stretching 25,000sqm will showcase yachts, sailing boats, parts and services. And an on-water area, spanning a total area of 20,000sqm, will be dedicated to sailing boats and yachts, and allow test drives of many of the vessels on display.
 
A series of supporting activities will return to the show, including the First Business College Cup Sailing Boat Competition, Annual Meeting of Yacht and Dock Managers in Asian-Pacific Region, Yacht Baby Contest, Yacht Photography Competition, Yacht Trial and On-site Display of Helicopters and Luxury Cars.
 
In other news, the Boating Industries Alliance Australia (BIAA) and the Marina Industries Association of Australia (MIAA) launched a new boating show this year.
