Ramadan and Eid Fair visitor numbers rise by 52%

MIDDLE EAST - Organisers of the Ramadan and Eid Fair at Expo Centre Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, have claimed a 52 per cent rise in visitors attending the first 11 days of the show, compared to last year.

The multi-products consumer fair got under way on 18 July and will run until 10 August, covering Ramadan and the Eid holidays.

The fair includes a mix of cultural, religious, charitable, health, amusement and entertainment activities.

According to the organiser, Expo Centre Sharjah, 61,325 people attended the first 11 days of the show, compared to 40,327 in 2012, with the highest visitor numbers on 18-19 July attracting 6,617 and 6,590 people and 25-26 July receiving 7,240 and 7,047, respectively.

“Though Ramadan and Eid Fair has registered considerable growth over the years, we have never seen such huge turnout in the past 26 years of the show. With Eid holidays already announced, we are expecting much more visitor footfalls in the coming days,” said director-general, Expo Centre Sharjah, Saif Mohammed Al Midfa.

“The Taste of Ramadan Week is a new addition to the show, and is presenting a large slice of the country’s rich and vibrant culinary scene to visitors who are from diverse nationalities. Its live cooking and tasting sessions are a hit with visitors.”
