Packtech and Drinktec unite in India in 2014

ASIA - International PackTech India and Drinktec are teaming up for the third time next year, amid claims the demand for processed and packaged food will increase by 27 per cent by 2017.
 
The combined event will take place on 25-27 September 2014 at the Bombay Convention and Exhibition Center, showcasing products and solutions for the packaging, print, processing, beverages and food industries.
 
Messe Dusseldorf, responsible for PackTech India, and Messe Munich, organiser of Drinktec expects the 2014 event to surpass the last show held in 2012. More than 260 companies are expected to exhibit, up from 220 in 2012, with 8,500 visitors to attend, up from 7,500 at the previous show.

According to market researcher Euromonitor, demand for processed and packaged food will increase between 2013 and 2017 from 30 million tonnes currently to 38 million tonnes in 2017.
 
Sales of soft drinks from 2013 to 2017 are expected to double to 230 billion litres, with the average annual sales rise expected to be 20 per cent. Demand for alcoholic drinks is also set for an upward curve. UK-based research specialist Canadean predicts that between 2009 and 2015 the world beer market will grow by 2.8 per cent per year on average.
 
Following this, Messe Munich’s European edition of Drinktec is expected to attract more than 60,000 visitors from 170 countries in September 2013.
 
New to 2014, will be roundtable meetings, discussing ‘themes and technologies for tomorrow’, tailored specifically for the Indian market. The organisers will also introduce a new section on the ‘Technology for Food Processing’, which will showcase machinery and equipment for foods.
