IFEMA prepares for its biggest international tourism trade fair

EUROPE - The International Tourism Trade Fair (FITUR) is returning to Feria De Madrid next year, aiming to hold the largest business forum for the tourist industry in its history.

Organiser IFEMA expects the 34th event on 22-26 January 2014 to surpass the 2013 edition, which attracted 116,157 visitors and 8,979 exhibiting companies.

“These figures promise some favourable prospects for 2014 and confirm FITUR's status as an enviable business forum for the tourist industry and a leading trade show for the inbound and outbound tourism markets,” said an IFEMA spokesman. “The show has also consolidated its role as a key trade forum for information and know-how regarding innovation within the field of tourism management.”

According to IFEMA, the event will promote innovation and sustainability, two key aspects that ensure the development of the tourist industry and that will boost its competitive appeal. The organiser continues to develop the popular sections of the show, including FITUR Know How & Export, and FITUR Green.

IFEMA said the trade fair is preparing a comprehensive programme, including discussions from EXCELTUR, a non-profit association of the 25 biggest Spanish tourist companies, the Latin American Conference of Tourism Ministers and the United Nations World Tourism Organization.

In May, IFEMA reported a 25 per cent international visitor increase at its franchise trade fair EXPOFRANQUICIA 2013.
