CIBTM expects rise in corporate and association trade visitors

ASIA - The Chinese Incentives, Business Travel and Meetings exhibition (CIBTM) is ‘gearing up for its largest show to date’, according to organiser Reed Travel Exhibitions.

Last year CIBTM attracted 3,929 attendees and more than 400 hosted buyers, generating more than 8,450 pre-scheduled appointments.

Reed said the hosted buyer applications have already doubled the 2012 total, and has seen an increase in the amount of corporate and association trade visitors sign up to attend the show.

“The majority of our exhibitors want to meet with associations and corporates as this is where a lot of the big business in the meetings industry lies,” said CIBTM project manager, Jeffrey Xu. “The quality of trade visitor registrations this year has been very promising. We have meetings industry professionals attending from companies including the China Society for World Trade Organisation, the Chinese Medical Association and the Medical and Health Care Association. These factors combined will definitely enhance the return on investment achieved from meetings buyers and exhibitors who are looking to break into new markets.”

Following the research Reed conducted at CIBTM 2012, confirming the top ten destinations outside of Asia which buyers identified as key business destinations, the organiser has signed up a number of major Chinese outbound international destinations to exhibit at the show.

These include USA, Canada, Italy, Munich, Madrid, Brussels, Switzerland, Vienna, Abu Dhabi, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Thailand, Macau, New Zealand, and Australia.

The International Association of Exhibitions and Events (IAEE) will be hosting education content at CIBTM 2013, taking place on 2-4 September at the China National Convention Centre in Beijing.
