Wine industry trade expo relocates to Sydney

AUSTRALASIA - The Australian arm of Reed Exhibitions is moving its triennial WineTech expo back to the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre for the first time in 12 years.

The oenology products and services show has relocated from the Adelaide Convention Centre, and will be held on 15-17 July, alongside the 15th Australian Wine Industry Technical Conference (AWITC).

The New South Wales Wine Industry Association said the show move is an opportunity for the industry to engage with technical advances that lead to export growth.

“Australia must regain its international reputation for innovation. Sydney will be the place where we can hear how to regain the edge,” said president of the association David Lowe.

More than 100 exhibitors including hoteliers, restauranteurs, supermarkets, retailers and food consultants will be showcasing their products and services.

“WineTech 2013 will be a showcase of innovations that underpin growth,” said event manager Nina Vidale. “It is the forum that brings winemakers and grape growers together to discuss common interests and new ideas, and exposes new products and services that help boost producers’ results.”

Reed reported almost 3,000 visitors attended the last show held in 2010.

The Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre’s director of sales for exhibitions Helen Mantellato has been honoured with an Order of Merit by the New South Wales (NSW) Olympic Council.
