ADNEC hosts 52-day SummerFest Abu Dhabi

MIDDLE EAST – The Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority (TCA Abu Dhabi) has confirmed its SummerFest Abu Dhabi has expanded into a “52-day extravanganza.”

The event will take place from 27 June to 17 August and will feature in four halls at the Abu Dhabi National ExhibitionCentre (ADNEC). TCA Abu Dhabi said the festival will span mid-summer, the Holy Month of Ramadan, Eid Al Fitr and the destination’s traditional EidFest celebrations.

“There is now much more to see and do in Abu Dhabi than ever before,” said SummerFest manager, Sultan Al Muhairi.

“SummerFest Abu Dhabi will take our seasonal push to the next level and ensure Abu Dhabi is the place to be for UAE residents and regional travellers over the coming months.”

According to the organiser, more than 100,000 guests attended the festival in 2012, up 10 per cent from the previous event in 2011.

The event will host a live-action Cartoon Network Village featuring lifesize, replica sets and interactive games from the region’s cartoon TV network. SummerFest will also feature a three-storey obstacle course, rock climbing walls, zip lines, and a maze.

“The world-class schedule of shows, concerts and comedy nights will significantly expand SummerFest Abu Dhabi’s appeal to Arab and expatriate parents and their children,” added Al Muhairi.

Abu Dhabi bids to increase events business with the launch of a dedicated Abu Dhabi Convention Bureau. The emirate is aiming to be ranked by the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA) as among the world’s top 50 association meetings destinations in the next five years.
