MITT celebrates 20 years with 73,500 visitors at 2013 show

ASIA - The Moscow International Travel and Tourism Exhibition (MITT) has been hailed a success by organiser ITE Group as the show celebrated its 20th anniversary.

More than 73,500 visitors attended the show (unaudited) and 3,000 exhibitors showcased their products on 20-23 March at the Moscow Expocentre.

Cuba was chosen this year as the event’s official partner country, hosting a beach house themed stand with traditional Cuban dancers and served Cuban rum. “MITT is a very important fair because it’s a space that we can show our products, our facilities, and because the Russian market has huge potential for Cuba,” said Minister of Tourism, Cuba Manuel Marrero Cruz. “Last year we attracted 88,000 Russian tourists and I think that this year we can receive many more from this region.”

To mark MITT’s 20th year, a ministerial summit was held for the first time. Issues discussed included the removal of tourism barriers, destination marketing, and using technology effectively in the tourism industry. MITT 2013 also featured an extensive business programme and the fourth Moscow Medical & Health Tourism Congress.

“We are pleased to witness strong results in Russia’s outbound tourism market, and such a positive response from exhibitors and visitors to the event,” said ITE Group head of sales, Maria Badakh.

“Not only do we have every country in the world wanting to attract Russian tourists to their resorts, we also have them all exhibiting at our show. It’s been 20 years of success, and we look forward to the 21st edition which will take place on 19-22 March 2014.”

Asian Business Exhibitions and Conferences (ABEC) has launched a travel and tourism trade fair with MITT, capitalising on India’s developing travel and tourism industry.
