Growing number of European exhibitors reported at Beijing fabrics expo

ASIA - Messe Frankfurt claims its Beijing fabrics expo attracted record visitor and exhibitor numbers, highlighting the demand for European products is on the rise in China.

More than 25,000 visitors attended the show and 1,300 companies exhibited over 50,000sqm at the China International Exhibition Centre (CIEC) on 27-29 March. The organiser said this was up 2.5 per cent from the previous year.

Messe Frankfurt said the show’s SalonEurope and the Milano Unica pavilions each saw exhibitor growth of 36 per cent and 35 per cent compared to 2012.

The increased participation of European exhibitors this year “proves how sought after their high-end and branded products have become in China,” said Messe Frankfurt senior general Wendy Wen. “Many overseas exhibitors noted the changing habits of buyers here, with more andmore visitors willing to place orders for production for the local market, rather than just look at the latest products,” said Wen.

This year saw the debut of the Verve for Design zone featuring creative and inspirational textile design ideas from Europe, with a particular focus on mid-range and high-end products.

Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics is next in the series, to be held on 21-24 October 2013.
