Korea international boat show sold out a month before opening

ASIA - The Korea Trade Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) has claimed its upcoming international boat tradeshow is sold out, with more than a month to go.

The sixth Korea International Boat Show 2013 is scheduled to take place from 30 May to 2 June, at the Korea International Exhibition Center (KINTEX) in Seoul.

“We have 60 overseas exhibitors from 10 countries and 154 domestic exhibitors. Last year we had 91 overseas and 99 domestic,” said KOTRA’s special adviser Tim Coventry.

“The increase in domestic exhibitors supported by a further year-on-year increase in leisure boat registrations indicates solid evidence of continuing strong market development,” he said.

Despite the current political situation between North and South Korea, Coventry confirms the show will go ahead as planned.

“The people of the South are well used to the bellicose and threatening behavior of North Korea and have found it hard to understand why the international media have made such a big story of what they consider to be just a badly behaved nuisance rather than a real threat to peace.”

“In spite of all this, we are looking at what will be the largest boat show in Korea to date, and almost certainly now one of the leading shows in the Asian region.”

Korea’s leading tradeshow in the wind energy industry Entech 2013 is making a central pavilion dedicated to wind energy, aimed at boosting the networking potential at the event.
