Oman venue redevelopment team chosen

MIDDLE EAST - The infrastructure works for the redevelopment of the Oman Convention and Exhibition Center (OCEC) has been awarded to Khalid Bin Ahmed and Sons (KAS) — Al Habib Joint Venture (KAS-Al Habib JV).
 
The Oman government’s investment arm responsible for developing tourism infrastructure, has agreed the infrastructure works package will include the building of 4.4 km of single carriageway roads, 1.3 km of dual carriageway roads, six roundabouts, irrigation and electrical networks and telecommunication ducts.
 
“OCEC has been making steady progress for its debut in 2016 and Omran has been working systematically to ensure tendering is carried out according to plan, on budget and with particular attention to detail,” said Omran chairman Nasser bin Khamis al Jashmi.
 
The redeveloped convention centre is expected to give Oman its first space for large-scale international exhibitions and conferences.
 
“As a joint venture of local Omani companies, KAS-Al Habib JV is proud to be associated with this national and prestigious project to deliver the road and utilities infrastructure for the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre project," said Al Habib chairman Ali Malalah.
