Russian toy fair attracts 10,090 visitors

EUROPE - German organiser Spielwarenmesse has reported an 11.6 per cent visitor increase at its sixth Toys & Kids Russia exhibition, held on 13-15 March.

The toy and hobby fair attracted 10,090 trade visitors, with 306 companies from 15 countries exhibiting at the Crocus Expo International Exhibition Centre in Moscow, claims the organiser.

Spielwarenmesse expanded the World of Toys pavilion for this year’s show, aiming to help to help toy firms expand in the Eastern European market, as well as ‘take advantage of the rapid growth in the Russian toy market’.

The pavilion held 24 companies from 10 countries, including Mattel, NICI and Sieper. The organiser said the show had been expanded to include more products beyond toys, including baby fashions, prams, and hobby, outdoor, playground and sport articles.

The next edition is scheduled to take place on 12-14 March 2014.

Last year, The Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC) claimed to have hosted the first international toy and game trade fair ever held on the African continent.
