UBM Asia reports a boom in baby product shows

ASIA - UBM Asia is expanding its baby product portfolio with a show launch to include the Indian market, as it sees a registered visitor increase in its sister Shanghai show.

The organiser is launching Children Baby Maternity Industry Expo (CBME), to be held on 11-13 April at the Bombay Exhibition Center. The trade fair will distil the key components of the CBME China show, currently in its 13th edition.

UBM claims the Indian baby and child sector is among the world’s largest and fastest growing, with overseas brands extending their businesses into the Asian market.

The Shanghai’s Children Baby Maternity Industry Expo (CBME China) has increased exhibition space by 19 per cent from 2012. It is expecting more than 1,400 exhibitors representing 2,100 brands across 138,000sqm of exhibition space, and 60,000 visitors to attend the show.

"The scale of CBME China continues to reach new heights,“ said CBME’s GM Athena Gong. “China, with its one-child policy, a growing middle class and rising consumer spending, continues to be a driving force in the demand for global children, baby and maternity products. Baby, children and maternity product brands worldwide want to leverage the advantages of CBME China to explore new business.”

CBME China will be held on 17-19 July at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre.

To capitalise on the success of CBME last year, UBM Asia also launched a show in Brazil and linked up with Istanbul organiser EFEM on baby product shows.
