Reed Exhibitions China launches second management programme

ASIA - Reed Exhibitions China is continuing its drive to support expansion across second and third tier cities with the launch of a second edition of its grassroots training programme.

Known as the Reed Exhibitions Management Associate Programme (RMAP), it will give outstanding graduates a theoretical grounding in the exhibition industry, together with practical experience, over a three-year course.

Reed has already signalled its ambitions to strengthen its presence in China’s second-tier cities, with successful editions in Chengdu, Hefei and Xiamen, among others. The company claims its long-term success in China, as well as the sustained health of the country’s exhibition industry, will be sustained by a blend of experience and promising young talent.

“Within the industry, you often hear about a dearth of talent in exhibition management,” said president of Reed Exhibitions Greater China, Preecha S Chen.

“RMAP is our practical solution to that issue. As the industry leader, China has been an incredibly positive host for us. We want to give back in a way that is practical and long-lasting.”

First held in 2010, RMAP aims to identify a number of outstanding candidates for a three-year programme in either Beijing or Shanghai, where they will work in key functions like marketing, sales or project management.

“We’ve designed the programme to do more than just equip the management associates with the skills to operate in this highly dynamic industry,” said Chen. “We believe we’re training the very people who will eventually lead Reed Exhibitions.”
