APEX switches to Amsterdam for 2014

EUROPE - Access equipment exhibition APEX is moving to new dates at a larger venue in the Dutch capital Amsterdam.

The eighth APEX aerial platform exhibition in 2014 will be held at Amsterdam RAI in The Netherlands on 24-26 June 2014, moving away from its long-time home in Maastricht.

The organiser of the event said the switch to the new dates and more central venue is an attempt to boost visitor numbers. The switch to June will also allow APEX to be held concurrently with the International Rental Exhibition and the European Rental Association's annual convention, which also take place at Amsterdam RAI.

Tony Kenter, the MD of APEX organiser, Industrial Promotions International, said the decision to switch venues had been made after consultation with exhibitors and the IPAF.

“APEX is already a well-established show. This change in venue and timing will boost visitor numbers and enhance an already successful event,” he said. “Maastricht served us well as a venue, but it was widely recognised that the change to Amsterdam will make APEX a much more accessible event for visitors throughout Europe and worldwide.”

Amsterdam RAI is the city’s largest exhibition venue, and is expected to benefit APEX by offering a larger outside exhibition area than its previous home.

All seven of the show’s past editions, beginning in 1996, occupied a mid-September slot in Maastricht. The new June dates are the best available for the RAI in 2014, and mean the show will take place before the summer holidays.

APEX and IRE will be held in adjoining halls at the exhibition centre, with visitors having access to both events through a single admission fee.

Amsterdam RAI won the inaugural UFI Sustainability Award earlier this year.
