UBM Indian logistics event hopes to follow South America success

ASIA - UBM claims interest in its upcoming Indian event for logistics professionals is peaking thanks to “traction” elsewhere in the world.

Intermodal India, which takes place on 25-27 September at the Bombay Convention and Exhibition Centre, will look at creating a platform for professionals working in logistics, transportation, cargo, and freight-forwarding industries.

A spokesman for the company said Intermodal India's “icon and role model”, Intermodal South America, which holds its 20th edition next year, has gained a strong market following both in that region and on an international scale.

UBM claims Intermodal South America is the second largest exhibition in the world for logistics, cargo transport and international trade and 65 per cent of the 45,000 visitors are cargo shippers in search of new solutions, best practices and networking with players from around the world.

With Intermodal India, UBM hopes to bring a much needed forum for the sector to the growing Indian market. It is expected to attract more than 2,000 buyers from India and abroad. It includes a conference tailored to the needs of the Indian air cargo industry, sea trade and rail and road sectors, addressing topics including effective intermodal integration and cold chain management.

UBM acquired South American railway industry exhibition Negocios nos Trilhos for an undisclosed sum earlier this year, claiming it would be a complementary fit with its Intermodal transport exhibition in Brazil.
