Global Sources China fairs to feature a record 4,000 booths

ASIA - Global Sources is planning for its largest ever China Sourcing Fair on electronics in Hong Kong after securing 4,000 exhibitors.

The co-located China Sourcing Fairs: Electronics and Components, Security Products and Korea Sourcing fair: Electronics and Components will be held at Hong Kong’s AsiaWorld-Expo from 12 to 15 October.

Combined, the three events will feature the largest group of mainland China suppliers to exhibit at any electronics trade show Hong Kong, the organiser claimed. More than half the exhibitors are from mainland China, while others come from Hong Kong, Taiwan and regional manufacturing centres.

“Despite the slowdown in Europe, the global consumer electronics sector is experiencing solid growth,” Global Sources Exhibitions president Tommy Wong said. “In 2012, retail volume is expected to exceed US$1tn for the first time ever.

“Buyers are looking to Asia’s suppliers and shows like ours for new products to meet rising consumer demand. Because our events attractsome of the world’s largest buyers, this is an unmatched opportunity for exhibitors to grow their market share and build relationships with some of the world’s largest electronics and retail brands.”

Among the highlight of this year’s China Sourcing Fair: Electronics and Components is an iProducts and accessories pavilion with 470 booths. Other items to be displayed include in-car electronics, computer peripherals and terminals, smartphones, digital electronics and home entertainment.

The April edition of the sourcing fairs attracted 34,000 buyers from 139 countries and territories. Wong claimed the Electronics andComponents fair continues to strengthen in terms of industry influence and celebrates its 10th anniversary next year.

“Today, the fair has become a ‘must-attend’ trade show for buyers sourcing quality electronics products from Greater China and Asia,” he added.

According to a recent survey by Global Sources, Chinese suppliers are cautiously optimistic about increase in demand in the second half of 2012.
