Amsterdam RAI celebrates 20 years of broadcasting convention

EUROPE - Amsterdam RAI is hosting the 45th year of the International Broadcasting Convention (IBC), an event that has developed into the largest annual trade show to take place in the Dutch capital.

IBC features over 1,300 exhibitors from more than 160 countries showcasing the latest technical developments in the field of electronic media and entertainment.

Amsterdam RAI commercial director Maurits Van der Sluis claimed these in turn attract up to 50,000 professionals who stay in the Dutch capital for several days.

“IBC is a well-known phenomenon in Amsterdam, and this year we’ll be celebrating 20 years of IBC in Amsterdam," said van der Sluis. “Since 1992, the exhibition concept and size have made IBC our largest and most challenging client. Each September sees Amsterdam RAI operating at full speed to host the spectacular event. This year, for example, we have partnered with De Boer Tents to realise over 7,600 square metres of top quality mobile exhibition space in order to create sufficient room for all the IBC exhibitors.”

“This is a great example of how Amsterdam RAI serves as an economic force for the entire city of Amsterdam,” he said.

IBC runs until Tuesday 11 September.

Amsterdam RAI won the new UFI sustainability award in August.
