IAEE creates programme to nurture young expo professionals

AMERICAS - The International Association of Exhibitions and Events (IAEE) has developed a new programme to build the careers of exhibition professionals under 30 years of age.

Twenty young professionals, who may not otherwise have the financial resources, will attend the IAEE’s annual meeting and exhibition Expo! Expo!, in Orlando, Florida, on 4-6 December.

The IAEE 20 under 30 programme is sponsored by the Austin Convention and Visitors Bureau and the Austin Convention Center, and is hoped to provide industry education for professional growth in the exhibitions and events industry. It has been conceived to help participants establish a stronger career path and become highly-valued employees based on the opportunities and connections at Expo!Expo!

Applicants will receive one full, complimentary registration to Expo! Expo! and lodging for three nights. As part of the qualification process, applicants are asked toprovide a YouTube video answering specific questions about the exhibitions and events industry, their background and why IAEE and Expo! Expo! are important on a long-term basis.

“IAEE is proud to serve as the catalyst for select young professionals in the exhibitions and events industry who have not had the chance to experience Expo! Expo!,” IAEE president Steven Hacker.

“There is no doubt that the rich content offered at the annual meeting, including education, networking, career building, certification and community building, will provide long-term benefits throughout their careers.”

A May survey from the IAEE revealed that despite economic fears topping the list of organisers’ issues, one third of members will launch shows this year.
