Michio Kaku leads the content at the 2012 edition of CEDIA Expo

AMERICAS – The 2012 edition of CEDIA Expo will feature an opening keynote by physicist and ‘futurologist’ Dr Michio Kaku.

The celebrated physicist, author of New York Times bestsellers Physics of the Future and Sci-Fi Science: Physics of the Impossible, will deliver the opening keynote address, titled ‘The Intuitive Home of 2016’, on 5 September.

Dr Kaku will be discussing smart design and installation by talented electronic systems contractors, with future offerings like IPv6 and RFID devices.

This year’s event, aimed at the systems integration and home technology professionals, will focus on the themes of ‘Expand Your Business’ and ‘Own the Network; Own the Home’.

CEDIA Expo 2012 will once again run a large conference element, this year fielding eight sessions focused on networking and IP as well as 20 new CEDIA University courses.

There will also be courses offering industry credentials, including the new Residential Network Specialist, representing home tech and intellectual property. This credential allows industry professionals a chance to demonstrate mastery of the fundamentals of designing, installing and configuring a robust network in the home.

The exhibition, named after and run by the Custom Electronic Design and Installation Association, takes place on 5 to 8 September at the Indianapolis Convention Center.

To date 450 exhibitors have registered for the exhibition element of the show.

There will also be a panel titled ‘The Intuitive Home of 2016: What’s After the Smart Home’, an interactive session designed to generate thought-provoking conversation with commentators including Dr Kaku.
