Finnish library and information congress draws 86 exhibitors

EUROPE – Helsinki is celebrating the success of the recent World Library and Information Congress (WLIC), which attracted 4,000 people to the Finnish city.

The event, at the Helsinki Exhibition and Convention Centre, brought delegates from 119 countries, while 86 exhibitors participated in the exhibition held in connection with the congress.

Roberta Odebrecht, project manager at KIT Group - the congress organiser - said: “We valued the centre’s good location and the local convention bureau offering free transport cards for the participants and a Helsinki tourist information desk in the congress lobby.

“The Helsinki Exhibition and Convention Centre worked perfectly for a congress of this size and the service from the personnel was excellent and the location of the Holiday Inn, hotel and meeting facilities under the same roof, was important for us. We had some 15 offices there and more than 20 meeting rooms in use at the same time during the congress.”

WLIC is an annual event organised by the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions in co-operation with the WLIC National Committee and KIT Group.
