Vinexpo cancels 2012 Rendez-Vous

AMERICAS – Vinexpo’s wine-tasting event Rendez-Vous, a new consumer event conceived to engage American consumers in New York on 16-18 November this year, has been cancelled.

Despite having already reserved 52 tasting areas out of the planned 150 for Vinexpo customers, together with the involvement of American importers, the show was a long way off the minimum number of exhibits that Vinexpo was hoping for.

“We don’t want our exhibitors, who invest in this new project, to risk having mixed success,” said chief executive of Vinexpo Robert Beynat.

“However the unparalleled quality of the masterclasses based on world class wines that have been proposed and the immediate enthusiasm shown by some exhibitors convince us that this event is well positioned.

“This decision to postpone is responsible with regard to our customers and our partners,” he concluded, adding that the “limited offering” will fail to attract the visitors that Rendez-Vous by Vinexpo targets.

A new date for the exhibition has not yet been decided.

The Asia-Pacific edition of Vinexpo had better fortune earlier this year, claiming record numbers of exhibitors in May.
