Prague gets European counterpart to US hockey expo

EUROPE - The Czech Republic has been chosen for a European exhibition dedicated to ice hockey.

The four-day International Go For Hockey International Expo will take place at the Prague Exhibition Centre Letňany, in Prague, on 8 November, and there are plans to hold the event annually for the following five years.

Exhibitors include manufacturers of hockey and floor ball equipment and accessories, sportswear, food supplement producers, as well as hockey schools and national and international sports associations. The exhibition is aimed at both professionals and the general public.

“We are very happy that after long negotiations, the client put confidence in us that Prague can organise similar types of event, even five years in a row,” said MD of Prague Convention Bureau Lenka Žlebková. “Not only congresses but also sport events are very important for our destination from both economic and a social point of view, and therefore we offer them full support in all directions."

The Czech Republic is a natural home for an ice-hockey event, which is the most popular sport in both the Czech Republic and neighbouring Slovakia.

“I am very pleased that the organisers have chosen Prague for this extraordinary exhibition,” said Prague councilor Václav Novotný. “Czech hockey has a long tradition and as a country of many world hockey legends we are proud of it. Therefore, I believe that an event of this type has its place here, and that it will certainly delight any hockey fan.“

The exhibition will be accompanied by activities and competitions for parents and children, as well as a display of sledge hockey, women’s ice hockey and floor ball.

A key feature of the event will be a game between hockey legends and other appearances by famous national and international personalities.
