Thailand forum pitches a better-connected Asia

ASIA - The Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB), in cooperation with international exhibition and event bodies, has staged a forum to highlight the prominent role the country plays for the MICE sector.

The Thailand MICE International Forum (TMIF) 2012 in Bangkok on 21 June united expertise from TCEB, the Asian Federation for Exhibition and Convention Associations (AFECA) and the US-based International Association of Exhibitions and Events (IAEE).

This year’s theme was “Connecting Asia, Connecting Success,” and had two clear goals. Domestically, to elevate service standards among Thailand’s MICE operators, encouraging the industry to prepare fully for a new competitive environment; and internationally, to highlight its capabilities and readiness as a gateway to the regional MICE market in Asia.

“The forum opens the door for Thailand, as the platform of ASEAN, to serve as a focal point in harnessing and linking together the diverse strengths and potential of MICE players across the Asian region,” said Thongchai Sridama, acting president of the TCEB.

TMIF 2012 comprises an international forum and a business matching event, open to allparticipating MICE operators and visitors from Thailand and around the world, and a trade promoter round table discussion dedicated to MICE industry development in the CLMV countries, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam.

TCEB recently used a business forum in Taipei to attract more buyers and sellers to Thailand trade shows.
