New Jakarta Exhibition and Congress Center announced to open in 2015

ASIA - A new convention and exhibition centre is being built in Jakarta, Indonesia.

Jakarta Exhibition and Congress Center is scheduled to open in March 2015 and will consist of 60,000sqm of exhibition space, including an arena and outdoor space, 45 meeting rooms and a plenary hall for 18,000 delegates.

The venue has been designed by London-based architect Larry Oltmanns from V3 Architect and Urban Designers and is a privately-funded project of PT Alam Sutera Realty Tbk, which owns and will manage the venue once complete.

PT Alam Sutera Realty Tbk’s director Lilia Sukotjo told EW: “We are convinced the demand is much bigger than the supply in Jakarta and there is a need for a first class venue in Jakarta.

“We are committed to supporting the events industry in this part of the world and hope to develop MICE activities here.”

The venue is located between the airport and the city centre (15 minutes each way) and is based in Tangerang, which is an emerging town in greater Jakarta.
