Sensor + Test measurement fair sparks international interest

EUROPE - The organiser of the annual Sensor + Test measurement fair in Nuremberg has highlighted a lift in foreign exhibitors as a key achievement this year.

This year’s trade exhibition was held at Nuremberg Exhibition Centre from 22 to 24 May and attracted 536 exhibitors across 19,000sqm, one-third of which were from overseas. Organiser AMA Service, the association for sensor technology, also reported 8,200 visitors including a slight increase in international attendees.

Overall, exhibitor and visitor numbers were on a par with last year’s event. Sensor + Test was held alongside two conferences – the 16th GMA/ITG Conference “Sensors and Measuring Systems 2012” and IMCS 2012 – the 14th International Meeting on Chemical Sensors, which attracted a record 800 registered participants.

This year’s trade fair also featured a seminar programme and dedicated zone around the core focus topic of electromobility.

“Once again, the fair has met the high expectations of our exhibitors and visitors. The absolute figures may not have changed much, but we’re certainly glad to see the considerable increase of the international share in all target groups,” AMA Service MD Holger Bodeker said.

Next year’s Sensor + Test will be held from 14 to 16 May 2013 alongside biannual scientific AMA conferences Sensor, Opto and IRS Squared and has chosen renewable energy as its focal topic.

Exhibition organiser and venue owner Messe Nuremberg reported a 20 per cent rise in turnover to more than €165m in 2011, buoyed by international exhibitors and attendance at shows.
