Taiwan intensifies trade relationship with Dominican Republic

ASIA - The Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) has confirmed the participation of 18 businesses from Taiwan at this year's Expo Ferretera Internacional in the Dominican Republic.

The exhibition on 7 to 10 June at San Souci Centro de Convenciones, Puerto Santo Domingo Este, is hoped to be an ideal channel for boosting trade relations between Taiwan and the Dominican Republic.

Bilateral trade between Taiwan and the Dominican Republic generated a trade volume of US$151m in 2011. This figures comprises US$103m of exports and US$48m of imports.

A TAITRA spokesman said the partnership is made possible by close coordination between the Embassy of the Republic of China (Taiwan) in the Dominican Republic.

Taiwan's pavilion will showcase two sections of products. One will be an image area which will showcase  products highlighting Taiwan's image as an industry leader in ICT. The other will be a showground for the 18 participating exhibitors from Taiwan, where they will display a vast  products from Taiwan's niche industries.

Products on display include computer parts and accessories, MP3/MP4 players, cell phones, laptops, surveillance security systems, digital cameras, bicycles, hardware, kitchenware, machinery, building materials, auto parts and accessories.
