AIBTM 2012 picks Alfredo Quinones-Hinojosa for closing keynote

AMERICAS - Alfredo Quinones-Hinojosa, the former illegal immigrant who jumped the border fence from Mexico into the US 20 years ago, has been selected by Reed to speak at its US event AIBTM.

Known today as Dr Q, Quinones-Hinojosa’s remarkable journey from that border to director of the brain tumour surgery programme at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Centre will be the subject of the closing motivational speech at the Americas meetings and event’s trade show in Baltimore.

Reed Travel Exhibitions said his appointment marks a conscious move towards more inspirational material to complement the exhibition’s educational industry speakers.

“We are delighted Dr Alfred Quinones-Hinojosa has accepted our invitation; he has a truly amazing story to share and one that I am sure will motivate and inspire everyone,” event director Graeme Barnett said.

“Delivering inspirational and thought-provoking content is once again part of this year’s education programme and the rest of the sessions will have equally dynamic speakers.”

Reed Travel Exhibitions recently reshuffled its international meetings exhibition team following the defection of AIBTM director Steve Knight to Centaur’s new Meetings Show UK.
