Organiser heralds largest ever Qatar exhibition

MIDDLE EAST – The organiser of the ninth annual construction exhibition Project Qatar is expected to be the country’s largest ever, featuring 2,083 exhibitors showcasing across 62,000sqm at the Doha Exhibition Centre.

The event organised by IFP Qatar a subsidiary of Middle Eastern organiser IFP Group will also use three adjacent custom-built temporary structure extensions for the exhibition from 30 April to May 3.

Speaking at a press conference on Monday, Project Qatar's exhibition manager Michel Gebrael drew attention to the fact 85 per cent of the exhibitors are foreign companies, a figures he claimed “would be the envy of any global exhibition."

European attendance will increase significantly with Turkish companies covering 1,500sqm and exhibitors from Germany covering 1,300sqm. More than 85 Italian companies are attending the event.

Asia is also well represented with more than 100 exhibitors from Malaysia, which will form the largest contingent.

Gebrael told the press conference, held under the auspices of Prime Minister Sheikh Hamad Bin Jassim Bin Jabr Al-Thani, and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, that the 48 countries represented at the event see the exhibition as a “destination of choice for their construction companies”.

“Project Qatar offers [these countries] a platform to showcase their expertise, to launch new products, and an opportunity to explore how they can be a part of the immense construction boom in Qatar.

“With all signs pointing to an even steeper growth trajectory moving forward, their participation at Project Qatar is essential to the growth of the sector."

More than 120,000 people flocked to the Qatar Motor Show earlier this year.
