Malaysian DSA exhibition 2012 expected to draw 25,000

ASIA - The organiser of the 13th Defence Services Asia 2012 (DSA) exhibition and conference says the event will exceed 25,000 visitors for the first time this year.

Defence Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said he was confident the show will hit its target of 25,000 trade visitors, an increase on 22,740 from 58 countries at the 2010 edition.

He called the news “another milestone” for the Asia Pacific regional defence industry.

"I am glad that 100 per cent of the exhibition space has been taken up by exhibitors from all over the world,” said Hamidi. “The exhibition has attracted the participation of leading companies from 58 countries," he told reporters at the opening of the four-day exhibition.

At least 850 companies are exhibiting at the 40,000sqm event, aimed at members of the armed and security forces, uniformed cadet members, defence analysts and observers from both local and abroad.

Hamidi was speaking at a last-minute inspection of preparation work at the Putra World Trade Centre, where he was accompanied by Malaysian Armed Forces chief General Tan Sri Zulkifeli Mohd Zin.

Malaysia’s Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre is investing RM2m (US$658,000) to improve the lighting at its five exhibition halls.
