Deutsche Messe adds to managing board

EUROPE - The managing board at Deutsche Messe has welcomed two new members.

Jochen Köckler has replaced Stephan Kühne, who left the company last summer, while Frank Pörschmann succeeds Ernst Raue, who left on 31 March.

Köckler was formerly director of the German Agricultural Society, holding overall responsibility for trade shows and exhibitions.

He was also the key force behind the development of agricultural show Agritechnica and animal management show EuroTier.

Pörschmann left multinational IT firm IBM to join Deutsche Messe in 2010, assuming responsibility for digital show CeBIT as senior vice president.

The managing board's responsibilities have also been redistributed.

Köckler has taken up the reins of the new capital goods trade fairs division, while Pörschmann will oversee Deutsche Messe's technical services division and its subsidiary Messe Gastronomie Hannover.

Andreas Gruchow will continue to head the division responsible for the company's international operations, the subsidiary Fachausstellungen Heckmann and its end-consumer shows, while chairman Wolfram von Fritsch will oversee marketing, corporate communications, strategic operations, new business areas, and now also the finance and personnel divisions.

Von Fritsch will hand over responsibility for the Hannover Messe exhibition to Köckler following the 2012 event.

"The newly formed management team stands committed to pursuing the company's objective of becoming the benchmark forlead generation worldwide, while at the same time boosting sales and profitability and - thanks to the redistribution of the board's responsibilities - further increasing our edge over the competition in the market for capital goods trade fairs,” said Von Fritsch.

Deutsche Messe recently made a change at the top of its US division.
