UBM Live taps into Turkey with new food ingredients show

EUROPE - UBM Live is launching a new edition of its food ingredients (Fi) trade exhibition in Turkey in 2013 as part of plans to grow its global portfolio of food-based events.

Fi Istanbul will be held from 7 to 9 May 2013 and follows UBM Live’s geoadaptation of the brand into several regions, including Brazil, China, India, Indonesia and Japan.

The latest regional event will incorporate innovation theatres on the show floor and tasting sessions, and is to be co-located with a high-level technical conference featuring government, academia and industry speakers.

UBM hopes to attract 3,000 visitors to the first Fi Istanbul, half of which are expected to come from surrounding regions outside Turkey including the Middle East, South Europe and North Africa. The show is being supported by the Association of Food Additives and Ingredients Manufacturers (GIDAKAT).

The organiser pointed out Turkey is ranked seventh in the worldby the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) for agricultural production after the US, Brazil, China, India, Indonesia and Japan – areas where the Fi event brand is well-established.

“Our strategy is to establish events where our customers most need them,” food portfolio brand director Natasha Berrow said. The organiser also claimed to be the first company to offer a dedicated food ingredients event in the region.

“It was clear from an early stage that the opportunity offered by Turkey and the surrounding regions hit all our criteria,” Berrow continued. “Fi Istanbul will provide our customers with a unique opportunity to further explore and develop into this truly exciting market.”

UBM Live is planning to launch its first Frankfurt Nutrition show at Messe Frankfurt this November.
