Clarion secures contract to organise Sea-Air-Space expo

AMERICAS - Clarion Events North America has been awarded a contract to manage the Navy League of the United States’ annual Sea-Air-Space expo.

According to the organiser, the Navy League selected Clarion Events from a range of companies following a six-month tender process. The contract begins with the 2013 edition and will see Clarion working closely with Navy League’s staff and volunteer leadership team.

The Sea-Air-Space exposition began in 1965 and is held annually in Washington DC. The show focuses on the US defence industry, private sector and key military decision makers. The Navy League claims it is the largest maritime expo in the US.

“We selected Clarion Events to manage this event because of its worldwide experience in the defence industry, event planning and execution,” Navy League senior director for corporate affairs Kevin Traver said. “They have a proven track record of success in strategic positioning and growth for dynamic organisations.”

Navy League national executive director Dale Lumme said it decided to appoint a third-party to Sea-Air-Space as a way of re-investing and growing the event.

“Everyone involved in producing the Sea-Air-Space exposition to-date has made an important impact; we’re taking this world-class maritime event to the next level and intend for Clarion to help us grow it into the recognised International Sea Services event,” he said.

The show complements Clarion’s network of defence industry portfolio including DSEi and Counter Terror Expo in the UK; Undersea Defence Technology in Spain and Asia; and Maritime and Coastal Security Africa.

Clarion Events appointed David Audrain as its new North American president in February.
