Reed buys majority stake in All-Energy Australia

Reed Exhibitions has purchased a majority stake in clean energy exhibition All-Energy Australia for an undisclosed sum. The deal comes nine months after the organiser acquired sister event, All-Energy UK, and its owner Media Generation Events.

Under the new deal, brokered by Mayfield Media Strategies, Reed’s group exhibition director John Gorton will join the Australian team. The show’s existing directors will retain a minority stake and remain with the business, including incumbent regional director Boyd Dale.

“This represents an exciting new chapter for the All-Energy community in Australia,” Dale said. “The event and the sector have grown significantly since 2009 and now as part of the Reed Exhibitions family, with global connections and collaboration possibilities with similar events around the world, the future for All-Energy Australia is looking very strong indeed.”

The two-day All-Energy Australia is in its fourth year at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre. The trade show and conference is supported by several associations, as well as the Victorian state Department of Primary Industries, and attracted 3,600 attendees and 230 exhibitors last year. The next edition takes place from 10 to 11 October.

“Since its launch in 2009, the event has gone from strength-to-strength, increasing annually in size and stature and establishing itself as an important meeting place for the clean energy sector,” Reed Exhibitions Australia MD Debbie Evans said.

All-Energy Australia complements Reed Exhibition Australia’s recently launched Australian Sustainability event.

Reed has made significant inroads into the energy sector in recent years. Alongside Australia and the UK, the organiser now owns a host of exhibitions and events globally including Fenasucro and Agrocana in Brazil, PV Expo and Fuel Cell Expo in Japan, the Asia Future Energy Forum and Asia Smart Grid in Singapore, and the World Future Energy Summit in Abu Dhabi.

The organiser acquired Media Generation Event’s All-Energy UK, held in Aberdeen, last July. The UK show has been running since 2001 and attracted 8,000 participants in 2011.
