Top Gear Festival launches in Durban, South Africa

AFRICA - Brand Events will hold its first Top Gear Festival in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa on 16 and 17 June.

The event will be held at the Moses Mabhida Stadium and include a live stadium show featuring Top Gear TV show hosts Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May, plus outdoor features including a street circuit track and motoring expo with supercars, classics and motoring memorabilia.

Brand Events CEO Chris Hughes said this year’s launch is part of a three-year deal to take the Top Gear Festival to Durban, South Africa. He claimed several similar deals were in the pipeline globally.

The Top Gear Festival concept debuted in Johannesburg last March and complements the organiser’s Top Gear Live consumer show and exhibition format, which runs in the UK and in select locations globally. Top Gear Live UK replaced the MPH consumer show brand in 2011 and was held at Excel London and The NEC in Birmingham last November.

Brand Events will also hold its first Top Gear Live Stunt Show at the Olympyiskyi stadium in Moscow on 24 and 25 February, followed by Top Gear Live events in Stockholm, Sweden (15-17 March) and Copenhagen, Denmark (29 March – 1 April).

Brand Events held Top Gear Live in Amsterdam, Holland in 2010.
