VNU partners with MMI for sustainable building event

ASIA – Dutch organiser VNU Exhibitions Group has signed a cooperation agreement with Messe Munich International (MMI) in Shanghai for Green Building China 2012 (GBC), a flagship show hosted by VNU Exhibitions Asia.

The agreement, signed between VNU’s Asia affiliate VNU Exhibitions Asia and MMI Shanghai, will give VNU access to the team working on MMI’s building show BAU, one of the world’s leading exhibitions on architecture, materials and systems.

More than 2,000 exhibitors showcased their products and services at the 2011 edition of BAU.

Messe Munich’s Reinhard Pfeiffer claims BAU shares the same concept and vision as GBC. “We will be present at GBC 2012 and want to bring our experiences and interactions from our networks,” he commented. “Our main objective is to look for further cooperation in the future.”

His views were echoed by those of VNU Exhibitions Asia president David Zhong, who underscored his optimism for the combined project. “More companies will have access to the booming Chinese green building industry with BAU’s involvement assisting GBC to expand its international exposure and impact,” he said.

The 2012 edition of GBC takes place on 26-29 March at Shanghai New International Expo Center. The event is held alongside three themed related events, Eco City Summit, Sustainable Integrated Real Estate Forum and Shanghai Architecture Fair.

VNU expects the show to reach 200,000sqm this year, making it the biggest business show in China for the green building industry.

Following the Shanghai World Expo in 2010, GBC has set out to promote eco-preservation and sustainable development as an integral part of China’s vast urbanisation process.

VNU Exhibitions Europe recent;y entered a joint venture partnership with Thailand’s TCC Exhibition and Convention Center.
