Pet show attendance reflects increase in Chinese animal ownership

ASIA - The latest edition of the China International Pet Show 2011 (CIPS) saw international visitors increase by six per cent.

More than 35,100 visitors from all over the world attended the event, held from 16 to 19 November 2011 at the China Import & Export Fair Pazhou Complex in Guangzhou, where they met 761 exhibitors displaying the latest pet products and services.

The annual event is organised by the China Great Wall International Exhibition Company and Germany’s Messe Nuremburg, alternating between Guangzhou and Beijing.

The next edition will take place in Beijing from 1 to 4 November 2012.

During the last 15 years CIPS has grown to reflect the boom in Chinese pet ownership, and the subsequent increase in manufacture of associated pet and aquarium products.

The US subsidiary of Messe Nuremburg launches a pet expo in Guadalajara, Mexico, this summer.
