First Counter Terror Expo US gets an advisory board

AMERICAS - An industry advisory board has been established for the debut US Counter Terror Expo in Washington to assist with the trade show’s content programme and focus.

The first Counter Terror Expo and conference will be held at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center from 16 to 17 May, and is organised by Clarion Events. The new advisory board is tasked with guiding and shaping the educational programming and conference content and features individuals from the government, academia, law enforcement, media and private sector.

Representatives include: FLIR Systems chief technology officer David Cullin; Department of Homeland Security Control Systems Security Programme representative Lisa Kaiser; and chief operating officer from Raytheon Trusted Computer Solutions Ed Hammersla.

Clarion said the advisory board will continue to expand as additional industry leaders are identified to represent a broader cross-section of the counter terror community.

“With the threat of terrorism spanning across many industries, countries and through countless mediums, it was imperative to create an advisory board as diverse as the threats we face,” Clarion’s North American vice-president Wayne Crawford said. “The group we have assembled will help us to identify the issues and concerns most critical to such a vast counter terror community and the best way to address those during the conference.

“Our hope is that this conference will serve as a platform to not only boost collaboration but also public/private partnerships.”

Counter Terror Expo US comes on the back ofClarion’s Counter Terror Expo brand in the UK. The organiser also runs the Defence and Security Equipment International (DSEi) exhibition in London every two years.

Clarion also launched Counter Terror Expo in the Middle East last October.

Counter Terror Expo US is aimed at individuals from federal and state agencies, Department of Defence (DoD), police and first responders, along with those responsible for securing the nation’s security and counter terror infrastructure.
