US show DistribuTECH bound for South America

AMERICAS - North American electricity transmission and distribution show DistribuTECH, will launch in Rio de Janeiro to take advantage of Brazil’s economy next year.

DistribuTECH Brasil will be co-located with HydroVision Brasil at the Riocentro Exhibition and Convention Center on 25-27 September, 2012. HydroVision Brasil, now in its second year, focuses on developing the region’s hydroelectric power sectors and is attended by more than 1,000 visitors and 100 exhibitors.

“We’re about to see a huge boom in Brazil’s electricity transmission and distribution industry,” said DistribuTECH chairwoman Teresa Hansen, “and when exhibitors at our North American show hear we’ll be in Brazil, they'll want to be the first ones down there on the exhibit floor and presenting case studies.”

According to DistribuTECH, over the next decade Brazil is planning to install 23,000 miles of new transmission lines, a 40 per cent increase to the existing network.

“DistribuTECH is already known around the world as the largest show in North America. Brazil could be the place where some of the smaller smart grid companies become big names. Our studies show 2012 to be the perfect time for our entrance to Brazil,” said Hansen.

Brazil also is expected to replace 63 million electricity meters with smart meters by 2021.

US-based International Association of Exhibitions and Events has formed an event development partnership with the Shanghai Convention and Exhibition Industries Association.
