ASIA - UBM has bought a series of green energy fairs from Exhibitions India for around INR50 crore (US$9.6m), according to sources in the Indian press.
Exhibitions India’s Renewable Energy India expos are among the larger exhibitions on green energy in Asia, spanning exhibition space of more than 10,000sqm at the 2011 event.
“We have taken a decision to transfer the future series of the Renewable Energy India expos to the UBM India Group,” said chairman of Exhibitions India Group Prem Behl. “The expo will leverage the global strength of the UBM Group to attract a wider worldwide participation to the expo.”
Behl said he expects events related to renewable energy to grow in India.
Earlier this year UBM acquired a 70 per cent stake in Index Fairs, India’s largest interiors and furniture trade shows, from Index Furniture Private Limited.
