Marintec China grows 40 per cent

ASIA – UBM Asia and the Shanghai Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers, organisers of the biennial Marintec China, have confirmed the 2011 edition will take up 40 per cent more space than the 2009 show.

The event, which takes place at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre from 29 November to 2 December 2011, will cover 70,000sqm this year, making it the largest in the show’s 32-year history.

More than 1,650 exhibitors are taking part in this year's fair, an increase of 11 per cent on the 2009 edition, with 18 national/regional groups taking pavilions. These include Denmark, Germany, Japan, the Netherlands and Singapore.

The theme of this year’s accompanying Senior Maritime Forum is ‘Green Agenda, Innovation and Development’ and features keynote speeches and presentations on areas including shipping and ports, shipbuilding, ocean engineering, marine finance and marine equipment procurement.

Speakers include senior Chinese government officials and representatives from leading maritime associations and industry professionals.

International attendance at Cosmoprof Asia, UBM’s beauty trade event for the AsiaPacific region, saw attendance increase by 14 per cent.
