Oman gears up for rebranded food expo

MIDDLE EAST - Omanexpo will launch its rebranded hospitality event Food and Hotel Oman 2011 from 5-7 December at the Oman International Exhibition Centre.

The event, formerly trading as Food Expo, established its reputation as one of Oman’s most significant hospitality sector events, underlining government initiatives to boost the sector through increased investment in tourism and food and agriculture projects.

More than 100 companies from 15 countries will showcase their latest food and beverage, food processing technologies, branded kitchen and catering equipment, packaging systems, hotel supplies and related services. National pavilions from Italy, Singapore, India, Thailand, Malaysia, China and the UAE will be at the event.

A new feature at the exhibition will be a live cooking demonstration titled ‘Live Cooking Session and Culinary Arts’. This three-day event is organised in partnership with Oman Chef’s Guild, a professional organisation composed of chefs from major hotels and other segments of Oman’s hospitality industry, and spearheaded by Oman Chef’s Guild’s and Omani celebrity chef Issa Lamki.

“The fast pace at which this sector is moving greatly eases Omanexpo’s efforts to support the industry and to promote Oman as a business and tourist destination to the world,” said Omanexpo CEO Eihab Abutaha.

Spanish food expo organiser Alimentaria Exhibitions has created a strategic project hoped to provide a structure for information, training, innovation and business for the 2012 edition of its biannual F&B show Alimentaria.
